Step 5: Steam the Mixiote

Place the wrapped mixiote in a steamer basket or a large pot with a steaming rack. Add water to the pot, ensuring it doesn’t touch the mixiote parcels, and cover it with a lid. Steam for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender and fully cooked. If using a pressure cooker, reduce the cooking time to about 30-40 minutes under high pressure.
